What is your Why?
October 10, 2024
The picture that we are using in this article was taken in Rocky Mountain National Park this last September. Cory and I were on a trip and decided to take a couple of days in the park– mostly because we love National Parks, State Parks, local parks, I mean you might even see us at a skate park. We LOVE a park. If you haven’t been, there is something truly magical about RMNP. I’m not sure if it’s the abundance of wildlife viewing, the hiking and exploring, or just the sheer vastness and beauty of its landscapes, but it will take your breath away if you let it. Which brings me back to the title of today’s post: 5MV
5MV stands for 5 minute vacation. A very good friend and mentor of mine named Tom used this as a message he would send out randomly to me and a few others. The purpose of it was that no matter where you were and what you were doing, when you received that message, you would pause for 5 minutes and take a little vacation in your head. You could go anyplace you wanted. If you were feeling stressed out or just maxed out, maybe you took that time to go and visit your God and get refreshed and replenished in His grace. If you were stuck in the rain, maybe you vacationed in the tropics, or if like many of us and just feeling stuck, you took those few moments to imagine what life would be like if you were un-stuck.
Regardless of your situation today, I want to encourage you to take your 5MV. Set a reminder on your phone to go off at a couple of different times this week and try it. While our circumstance may not change as soon as we would like them to, our attitudes and outlooks can change almost immediately, if we will allow ourselves to have a new experience that we intentionally create in our own minds. If you like, jot down a couple of notes from your experience and share them with us. Enjoy your vacation!!
